“Willow” joined Taylor Swift’s performances of “Cardigan” and “august” at the 2021 Grammys.
Swift performed the three-song medley at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021. “Cardigan” and “august” came from Folklore, while “Willow” came from Evermore, the sister album Swift released later in 2020.
The performance featured Folklore producers Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner. Swift began with “Cardigan” while lying atop a cottage, sang “august” on guitar inside it, and then moved outside for “Willow.” The staging visually linked the albums’ woodland and cottagecore imagery.
The song is sometimes mistaken for part of the Folklore love-triangle trilogy because it appeared in the same medley. It is not: the trilogy consists of “Cardigan,” “august,” and “Betty.” “Willow” belongs to a different album and a separate narrative world.
