At the 2020 Academy Awards, Chanel designed Billie Eilish’s oversized white outfit.
Eilish wore a loose Chanel jacket and matching trousers covered with the house’s interlocking-C branding. The outfit also included fingerless gloves, long pale nails and chunky footwear, producing the deliberately oversized silhouette that was closely associated with her public style at the time.
The look stood apart from the fitted gowns and tuxedos more commonly seen at the Oscars. It was consistent with Eilish’s preference for relaxed, coordinated clothing and helped establish her red-carpet appearance as a form of visual identity rather than a move toward conventional Hollywood glamour.
Eilish attended the 92nd Academy Awards as a performer. She sang “Yesterday” during the ceremony’s In Memoriam segment. The Oscars were held on February 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
