Assassin's Creed Unity is set mainly in which city during the French Revolution?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed Unity is set mainly in Paris during the French Revolution.

The game begins in 1776 and focuses on the revolutionary period from 1789 onward. Players control Arno Dorian, a French Assassin who becomes involved in the Brotherhood after the murder of his adoptive father. Paris supplies the game's central open world, with landmarks, crowded streets, political unrest, and revolutionary events shaping the setting.

Versailles also appears in the game, but it is not the primary city represented by the open-world map. That distinction matters because Versailles was the royal seat and an important location in the opening chapters, while most exploration and missions take place in Paris.

Unity was released in 2014 and introduced cooperative missions for up to four players. Its detailed reconstruction of revolutionary Paris is one of the title's defining features.
