Apple, one of the world's highest-valued companies by market capitalization, was co-founded in 1976 by which person besides Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak?

The story behind the answer

Apple, one of the world's highest-valued companies by market capitalization, was co-founded in 1976 by Ronald Wayne besides Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

Wayne helped establish Apple Computer on April 1, 1976, and designed the original partnership agreement and an early Apple logo. He also wrote documentation for the Apple I computer, giving the young business some organizational structure during its earliest days.

Wayne left the company only 12 days after its formation, selling his 10% stake back to Jobs and Wozniak for $800. He later received an additional payment of $1,500 to relinquish any future claims. His decision is often discussed because that stake would eventually have been worth billions if retained.

Apple later became one of the world's most valuable public companies, but market capitalization reflects the value investors place on outstanding shares, not the amount of money held by its founders. Wayne is therefore a notable part of Apple's origin story, rather than a modern Apple executive.
