The Gospel is traditionally associated with Matthew, one of Jesus’ Twelve Apostles, although modern scholars debate its precise authorship and date. It is also known for major teaching sections, including the Sermon on the Mount in chapters 5–7.
A common mix-up is confusing Matthew’s 28 chapters with Mark’s 16, Luke’s 24, or John’s 21. Chapter numbers were added long after the original text was written; they are navigation divisions rather than part of the earliest manuscripts.
