According to Exodus 9, what fell from the sky during the seventh plague on Egypt?

The story behind the answer

According to Exodus 9, hail fell from the sky during the seventh plague on Egypt.

The plague was an exceptionally destructive storm of hail accompanied by thunder and fire. It struck people, animals, trees, and crops in the fields. The account says that flax and barley were damaged because they were already in ear, while wheat and spelt were not yet ripe and survived that particular storm.

Before the storm, Moses warned Pharaoh’s officials to bring servants and livestock under shelter. This detail creates a distinction within the story: those who feared the warning could protect their people and animals, while those who ignored it remained exposed.

The hail plague came after the plague of boils and before the plague of locusts. It is therefore the seventh in the traditional sequence. It should not be confused with the darkness plague, which occurs later and does not involve weather.
