With which MLB team did 2026 deadline candidate Sonny Gray make his major league debut?
Answer
Oakland Athletics
Answer
Oakland Athletics
Sonny Gray made his major-league debut with the Oakland Athletics.
The Athletics selected Gray 18th overall in the 2011 MLB draft out of Vanderbilt University. After developing in Oakland’s minor-league system, he was called up in July 2013 and made his first appearance against the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 10, working two scoreless relief innings.
Gray later became an Oakland starter and made his first major-league start against the Toronto Blue Jays in August 2013. His later teams included the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals, which can make the debut question easy to mix up. Those clubs came after Oakland, not before it.
