Who wrote the Japanese manga series Pandora Hearts?

The story behind the answer

Jun Mochizuki wrote and illustrated the Japanese manga series Pandora Hearts. Square Enix serialized the series in its magazine Monthly GFantasy from 2006 to 2015.

The story follows Oz Vessalius, a young noble whose coming-of-age ceremony is interrupted when he is condemned to the Abyss. He later forms a contract with Alice, a mysterious Chain known as the B-Rabbit, while investigating the secrets surrounding the Tragedy of Sablier.

Pandora Hearts draws on names and motifs associated with Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, but it is an original dark fantasy narrative rather than a direct adaptation. Its central organization, Pandora, investigates supernatural events connected with the Abyss.

The manga was collected in 24 tankōbon volumes. An anime television adaptation aired in 2009, but the manga and anime do not tell exactly the same complete story.
