Who wrote the 'Gentleman Bastard' series?
Answer
Scott Lynch
Answer
Scott Lynch
Scott Lynch wrote the Gentleman Bastard series, a fantasy sequence centered on Locke Lamora and his fellow con artists, the Gentleman Bastards.
The series began with The Lies of Locke Lamora, published in 2006. It introduces Camorr, a city inspired in part by medieval Venice, where Locke and his crew secretly rob wealthy nobles through elaborate confidence schemes. The second novel, Red Seas Under Red Skies, followed in 2007, and The Republic of Thieves appeared in 2013.
A common mix-up is confusing Lynch with Patrick Rothfuss, whose Kingkiller Chronicle also features a highly gifted fantasy protagonist, or with Joe Abercrombie, another prominent modern grimdark writer. Mark Lawrence is likewise associated with contemporary dark fantasy, but none of those authors created the Gentleman Bastard books.
The series is often called the Gentleman Bastard Sequence. Its projected future novels include The Thorn of Emberlain, The Ministry of Necessity, The Mage and the Master Spy, and Inherit the Night.
