Who wrote All the Light We Cannot See, winner of the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction?

The story behind the answer

Anthony Doerr wrote All the Light We Cannot See, winner of the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.

The novel follows two young people during World War II: Marie-Laure LeBlanc, a blind French girl, and Werner Pfennig, a German boy trained in military technology. Their lives eventually intersect in occupied France, where the story explores courage, science, loss, and moral choice.

Doerr published the novel in 2014. Its narrative moves across different times and places, including Paris, Saint-Malo, and Germany. The book became an international bestseller and was later adapted as a television miniseries.

The title comes from a broader idea in the novel: important realities are not always visible. The Pulitzer award was for Doerr’s novel, not for the later screen adaptation.
