Who won the 2022 US Open women's singles title, beating Ons Jabeur?

Iga Świątek won the 2022 US Open women’s singles title by defeating Ons Jabeur.

Świątek prevailed 6–2, 7–6 (7–5), making the tournament her first US Open championship and her third major title overall. She controlled the opening set and then held off Jabeur’s comeback attempt in a tense second-set tiebreak.

The title completed a remarkable 2022 season. Świątek had already won the French Open earlier that year, making her the first player since Angelique Kerber in 2016 to win multiple majors in one season. She was also the first Polish woman in the Open Era to reach the US Open quarterfinals or better.

Jabeur was seeking her first major title after finishing runner-up at Wimbledon earlier in 2022. The final was not the same as the 2021 US Open, when Emma Raducanu defeated Leylah Fernandez. Raducanu entered 2022 as defending champion but lost in the first round to Alizé Cornet, leaving the field open for a new champion.
