Who was the wife of Isaac?

The wife of Isaac was Rebekah, also spelled Rebecca.

According to Genesis, Abraham sends a servant to find a wife for his son Isaac among his relatives in Aram-Naharaim. At a well, the servant meets Rebekah, who offers water to him and his camels. Her hospitality is treated as a sign that she is the chosen bride, and she travels to Canaan to marry Isaac.

Rebekah is the daughter of Bethuel and the sister of Laban. She and Isaac have twin sons, Esau and Jacob. Before their birth, Rebekah receives an oracle that the older son will serve the younger, a detail that shapes later family tensions. She eventually helps Jacob obtain Isaac’s blessing, contributing to the rivalry between the brothers.

Rebekah is sometimes confused with Sarah, who was Isaac’s mother and Abraham’s wife. Leah and Rachel belonged to the next generation: they were wives of Jacob, Rebekah’s son. Rebekah therefore links the patriarchal generations of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
