Who was named the AP Coach of the Year for the 2014 NFL season?
Answer
Bruce Arians
Answer
Bruce Arians
Bruce Arians was named the AP Coach of the Year for the 2014 NFL season. He won the award after guiding the Arizona Cardinals to an 11–5 regular-season record and a playoff berth in a difficult NFC West.
Arians’ Cardinals started the season 9–1, their best opening through 10 games in franchise history at the time. Although injuries—especially to quarterbacks Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton—hurt the team late, Arizona still finished with a winning record and earned a wild-card spot. The Cardinals lost to the Carolina Panthers in the playoffs, but Arians’ regular-season leadership remained award-worthy.
The honor was presented at the 4th NFL Honors ceremony on January 31, 2015. Arians received 39.5 votes in the AP’s voting, comfortably leading the field. A common mix-up is that this was not his first AP Coach of the Year award: he also won in 2012, when he served as the Indianapolis Colts’ interim head coach while Chuck Pagano underwent leukemia treatment. His 2014 victory made him a two-time winner.
