Who was deported back to Pakistan on the TV show "Seinfeld"?

The story behind the answer

On Seinfeld, Babu Bhatt was deported back to Pakistan. The Pakistani immigrant restaurateur appears in the season-four episode "The Visa," first broadcast on January 27, 1993.

Jerry had earlier encouraged Babu to open the Dream Café, but his advice helped ruin the restaurant. Trying to make amends, Jerry later helps Babu find work at Monk’s Café and a place to live. Babu then receives an immigration notice, but the paperwork is accidentally mixed into Jerry’s mail.

Because Jerry and Elaine fail to get the visa-renewal documents to Babu in time, immigration authorities arrest him for overstaying his visa. Jerry seeks help from George’s girlfriend Cheryl, an immigration lawyer, but their personal drama derails the effort. Babu is ultimately deported and blames Jerry, calling him a “very, very bad man.”

The character was played by Brian George, who later became widely known as Raj Koothrappali’s father on The Big Bang Theory. Babu also returns briefly in Seinfeld’s series finale.
