Who was Abraham's wife?

Abraham’s wife was Sarah, originally called Sarai in the Book of Genesis.

Sarah traveled with Abraham from their homeland toward Canaan and shared his long journey through famine, migration, and encounters with powerful rulers. Although she was unable to have children for many years, Genesis says that God promised Abraham she would bear a son. Her name was changed from Sarai to Sarah as part of that covenant.

Sarah eventually gave birth to Isaac in her old age. Isaac became the father of Jacob, later called Israel, making Sarah an important matriarch in Jewish and Christian tradition. In Islam, she is also regarded as Abraham’s wife and Isaac’s mother, although details of her story differ among traditions.

Sarah is sometimes confused with Rebekah, Rachel, or Leah. Rebekah was Isaac’s wife, while Rachel and Leah were Jacob’s wives. Sarah’s other major association is Hagar, Abraham’s second wife or concubine in different interpretations, whose son Ishmael was born before Isaac.
