Who voices Valka in How to Train Your Dragon 2?

Cate Blanchett voices Valka in How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Valka is introduced as a mysterious dragon rescuer living in a remote sanctuary. The story later reveals that she is Hiccup’s mother, who was separated from him during a dragon attack when he was an infant. Blanchett’s performance gives Valka both the authority of an experienced dragon protector and the emotional weight of a parent reunited with her son.

This role is sometimes confused with other major female voices in the trilogy. America Ferrera voices Astrid, while Kristen Wiig voices Ruffnut. Cate Blanchett’s Valka is specifically associated with the second film, although the character also appears in the concluding film.
