Who voiced Heihei in Moana?

Heihei in *Moana* is voiced by Alan Tudyk.

Heihei is Moana’s dim-witted pet rooster, who accidentally stows away aboard her camakau when she sails beyond Motunui’s reef. Although he is not a heroic or talkative animal companion, his confused behavior supplies comic relief throughout the voyage, including the running gag that he repeatedly puts himself in danger.

Alan Tudyk is an American actor known for extensive voice work in animated films and television. In addition to voicing Heihei, he also voices Villager No. 3, the old man who jokingly suggests that the rooster could be cooked. That dual role is easy to miss because the characters appear in very different situations.

Heihei is sometimes confused with Pua, Moana’s loyal pet pig. Pua remains on Motunui for most of the journey, while Heihei reaches the open ocean with Moana and becomes an accidental member of the expedition. The character’s name is commonly rendered as “Heihei,” meaning “chicken” in Māori.
