Who voiced Future Ted, the narrator of How I Met Your Mother?
Answer
Bob Saget
Answer
Bob Saget
Bob Saget voiced Future Ted, the narrator of How I Met Your Mother. His voice is heard as the older Ted Mosby tells his children the long story of how he met their mother.
The series uses a split structure. Most scenes take place in the past, following the younger Ted and his friends in New York City, while narration comes from Ted in the year 2030. Josh Radnor plays the younger, on-screen Ted; Saget supplies the older character's narration.
Saget's role was primarily voice-only and was generally uncredited. That distinction explains why viewers may remember Radnor as Ted while hearing Saget during much of the storytelling. The narrator's identity is not a separate character: Future Ted is the same person at a later point in his life.
The framing device also lets the show move between timelines, foreshadow later relationships, and turn ordinary memories into a story shaped by hindsight. The pilot establishes this setup immediately, with Future Ted speaking to his son and daughter from 2030.
