Who voiced Bellwether in Zootopia?

Bellwether in Zootopia was voiced by Jenny Slate.

Assistant mayor Dawn Bellwether is a small sheep who works under Mayor Leodore Lionheart. Slate’s performance presents Bellwether as soft-spoken, anxious, and eager to be taken seriously, qualities that help conceal the character’s much larger role in the film’s conspiracy.

Bellwether secretly uses a serum made from night howlers to make predatory animals appear savage. She then exploits the public fear created by those incidents to turn Zootopia’s mammals against predators and seize political power. Her apparent helpfulness toward Judy is therefore deliberately misleading.

Jenny Slate is also known for live-action and animated work including Marcel the Shell, Parks and Recreation, and The Secret Life of Pets. A common mix-up is associating Bellwether’s voice with Kate McKinnon or Kristen Wiig, but neither voices the character in the 2016 film. Judy Hopps, meanwhile, was voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin.
