Diane Hendricks topped Forbes’ 2023 list of America’s richest self-made women.

Forbes estimated Hendricks’ fortune at about $15 billion and identified her as the wealthiest self-made woman in the United States in that ranking. Her wealth is tied to ABC Supply, a major distributor of roofing, siding and other building materials.

Hendricks co-founded ABC Supply in 1982 with her late husband, Kenneth Hendricks. The company grew by acquiring building-supply businesses and expanding its network of locations across the United States.

The phrase “self-made” is a Forbes classification describing how a person built or accumulated wealth; it does not mean the person received no help, family support or investment. This ranking is also separate from Forbes’ global list of all billionaires, which includes inherited fortunes.
