Who starred as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games film series?

Jennifer Lawrence starred as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games film series. She played the resourceful archer who becomes the symbolic leader of a rebellion against Panem’s authoritarian government.

The films were adapted from Suzanne Collins’ bestselling dystopian novels. Lawrence first appeared as Katniss in The Hunger Games, released in 2012, then reprised the role in Catching Fire and the two-part adaptation of Mockingjay. Her performance helped make Katniss one of the most recognizable young-adult protagonists in 2010s cinema.

Katniss is selected from District 12 to compete in a televised fight to the death, but her defiance gradually turns the Games into a challenge to the Capitol. The series’ cast also included Josh Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark, Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne, and Jena Malone as Johanna Mason. Emma Stone and Shailene Woodley were not Katniss; they became associated with other major 2010s film roles.
