Who sang the original English Pokémon Theme used for the first anime season?

Jason Paige sang the original English Pokémon Theme used for the first anime season.

The song is widely recognized by its opening promise to become “the very best” and by the franchise slogan “Gotta catch ’em all!” John Siegler and John Loeffler wrote the song, while Paige provided the lead vocal performance.

The theme served as the opening song for the first English adaptation of the Pokémon anime. It became closely associated with the franchise even though the Japanese series used a different opening theme, “Aim to Be a Pokémon Master,” performed by Rica Matsumoto.

The song was recorded during 1998 and appeared on the soundtrack album Pokémon 2.B.A. Master, released in 1999. Because several singers performed later Pokémon openings, Paige is sometimes confused with David Rolfe, who sang later English themes. The songwriter John Siegler is another separate credit and is not the lead vocalist.
