Who represented China at Japan's surrender ceremony aboard USS Missouri?

The story behind the answer

Xu Yongchang represented China at Japan's surrender ceremony aboard USS Missouri.

Xu, also rendered Hsu Yung-chang, was a general in the National Revolutionary Army of the Republic of China. He signed the Japanese Instrument of Surrender on September 2, 1945, as China's representative among the Allied signatories.

China had been at war with Japan since the Second Sino-Japanese War began in 1937, making it one of Japan's principal opponents before the wider Pacific conflict began. Xu's signature therefore represented the Chinese government in the formal Allied settlement of the war.

The other Allied representatives included MacArthur for the Allied powers, Nimitz for the United States, and officers representing the United Kingdom, Soviet Union, Australia, Canada, France, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. Xu later served as a senior adviser in Taiwan.
