Who provided Kratos's voice in the original God of War trilogy?

The story behind the answer

Terrence C. Carson provided Kratos's voice in the original God of War trilogy.

Carson voiced Kratos in God of War, God of War II, and God of War III, as well as in several related appearances from the Greek-era period. His deep, forceful performance became one of the defining elements of the character during the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 years.

The original trilogy follows Kratos's rise from Spartan warrior to a figure who challenges the Greek gods. Carson's vocal performance helped establish the character's anger, intensity, and occasional vulnerability across that arc.

For the 2018 game and God of War Ragnarök, Christopher Judge replaced Carson as the voice and performance-capture actor for Kratos. This casting change is a frequent source of confusion because both actors portray the same character in major entries. Carson is also known for television work and for voicing Mace Windu in several Star Wars animated productions.
