Who produced Street Fighter IV?

The story behind the answer

Who produced Street Fighter IV? Yoshinori Ono produced Street Fighter IV.

Ono served as producer on Street Fighter IV, Capcom’s return to the numbered fighting-game series after a lengthy gap. He pitched the project to Capcom R&D head Keiji Inafune when the company was initially hesitant to make another mainline Street Fighter game.

Street Fighter IV eventually launched in Japanese arcades in 2008 and reached home consoles in 2009. Its development drew heavily on Super Street Fighter II Turbo, combining familiar 2D fighting fundamentals with three-dimensional character models and environments. Dimps co-developed the game with Capcom.

The answer is sometimes confused with the game’s director, Takayuki Nakayama, or with other Capcom figures connected to the broader franchise. Yoshiki Okamoto was an important former Capcom producer, but he was not Street Fighter IV’s producer. Ono later produced major updates including Super Street Fighter IV and Ultra Street Fighter IV, helping turn the revival into a long-running modern series.
