Who produced Avatar: Fire and Ash alongside James Cameron?

The story behind the answer

Jon Landau produced Avatar: Fire and Ash alongside director James Cameron.

Landau was Cameron’s longtime producing partner and helped oversee the Avatar franchise from its earliest development. Their collaboration began with Titanic, where Landau served as a producer, and continued through the original Avatar, The Way of Water and Fire and Ash.

As a producer, Landau helped coordinate the films’ unusually large combination of live-action photography, performance capture, underwater work and computer-generated visual effects. The second and third Avatar films were developed and filmed in overlapping stages, creating a production operation that stretched across California and New Zealand.

Landau died in July 2024, before Fire and Ash reached theaters, but his producer credit and creative contribution remain part of the film’s official history. He is sometimes confused with Gale Anne Hurd, another major Cameron collaborator, but Hurd did not produce this Avatar sequel.
