Who produced Aretha Franklin's 1982 album 'Jump to It'?
Answer
Luther Vandross
Answer
Luther Vandross
Luther Vandross produced Aretha Franklin’s 1982 album “Jump to It.”
The album marked a major comeback for Franklin after several less successful releases. Vandross produced most of the record, while Franklin co-produced the track “Rock-a-Lott,” making the album’s production credit more precisely a collaboration between Vandross and Franklin rather than Vandross alone.
Released by Arista on July 26, 1982, Jump to It became Franklin’s tenth No. 1 R&B album. Its title song, written by Vandross and Marcus Miller, gave Franklin her first Top 40 pop hit since 1976 and topped Billboard’s R&B singles chart for four weeks.
The album was certified Gold by the RIAA in February 1983. Vandross followed it with production of Franklin’s 1983 album Get It Right, but Jump to It remains the landmark project associated with their partnership.
