Who portrays Gregory House in the television series House M.D.?

Hugh Laurie portrays Gregory House in the television series House M.D.

Laurie is an English actor, musician, and comedian who became internationally associated with the American medical drama. His performance combines House's diagnostic brilliance with sarcasm, physical pain, addiction, and difficult personal relationships.

The role was a major change from Laurie's earlier British comedy work, including his partnership with Stephen Fry. Although Laurie was born in Oxford, England, he played the American doctor with an American accent throughout the series. The performance helped make House one of television's best-known antiheroes.

Laurie received multiple major award nominations for the part, including Emmy nominations, and won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series—Drama. Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, and Jesse Spencer were important cast members, but none played House himself.
