Who portrayed Dr. Gregory House in the TV series House M.D.?

Hugh Laurie portrayed Dr. Gregory House in the TV series House M.D.

Laurie, an English actor, took the title role in the American medical drama and played House across all eight seasons. His performance combined a highly controlled American accent with House’s sarcastic humor, physical disability, and difficult personality. The role made Laurie internationally famous and earned him major television awards and nominations.

Robert Sean Leonard played James Wilson, while Omar Epps played Eric Foreman, so both names are closely associated with the show but are not the answer. David Shore created the series and was not the actor playing House. Laurie’s performance is also notable because he was already known in Britain for comedy before becoming identified worldwide with the dramatic character.
