Who plays Thor's brother Loki in the 2011 film, "Thor"?

The story behind the answer

Tom Hiddleston plays Thor's brother Loki in the 2011 film Thor. In Marvel's version of the character, Loki is the adopted son of Odin and the brother of Chris Hemsworth's Thor, although he is secretly a Frost Giant by birth.

Thor was directed by Kenneth Branagh and introduced the two brothers as princes of Asgard with sharply different personalities. Thor is powerful and impulsive, while Loki is intelligent, resentful, and skilled at deception. Their rivalry becomes the film's central conflict after Thor is banished to Earth and Loki begins manipulating events in Asgard.

Hiddleston originally auditioned for Thor, but Branagh and Marvel ultimately cast him as Loki. The role became Hiddleston's breakout part and continued through several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, including The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War.

Although Loki is often called Thor's brother, he is not Thor's biological brother in either the Marvel storyline or the film's family history. Odin adopted Loki after the war between Asgard and the Frost Giants.
