Who plays Keith Pembroke, nicknamed The Vulture?

Dean Winters plays Keith Pembroke, nicknamed “The Vulture,” in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Pembroke is a detective from the Major Crimes division who repeatedly swoops into the 99th Precinct to claim credit for cases that the regular squad has nearly solved. His nickname reflects that behavior: like a vulture, he circles successful investigations and tries to take the best parts for himself. The character’s smug confidence makes him one of the show’s recurring professional antagonists.

The Vulture appears as a foil to Jake Peralta and the other detectives, whose teamwork and loyalty contrast sharply with Pembroke’s opportunism. His presence also expands the series beyond the fictional 99th Precinct by showing the rivalries and status games that exist elsewhere in the NYPD.

Dean Winters is sometimes confused here with Chris Parnell, who plays Geoffrey Hoytsman, or Patton Oswalt, who plays Fire Marshal Boone. Winters is also well known for playing Ryan O’Reily on Oz and for appearing in television advertising as the character Mayhem.
