Who played Howard Wolowitz?

The story behind the answer

Howard Wolowitz was played by Simon Helberg. Helberg portrayed the character throughout The Big Bang Theory, which ran on CBS from 2007 to 2019.

Howard is an aerospace engineer who works at Caltech and later becomes an astronaut. Unlike Sheldon, Leonard, and Raj, he does not hold a doctorate; he has a master’s degree in engineering from MIT. That distinction is a recurring source of jokes, but Howard’s practical engineering skills eventually lead to major achievements, including a mission to the International Space Station.

Simon Helberg’s performance helped make Howard distinctive within the ensemble. Howard begins the series as an overly confident would-be ladies’ man who lives with his unseen mother, but his character gradually matures through his relationship with Bernadette. They marry and have two children, giving Howard one of the show’s clearest long-term character arcs.

The incorrect options are other Big Bang Theory performers or characters: Jim Parsons played Sheldon Cooper, John Ross Bowie played Barry Kripke, and Kevin Sussman played Stuart Bloom. Simon Helberg also played piano in films such as Florence Foster Jenkins.
