Who played Dr. James Wilson in the television series House, M.D.?
Answer
Robert Sean Leonard
Answer
Robert Sean Leonard
Robert Sean Leonard played Dr. James Wilson in House, M.D.
Wilson is an oncologist and one of Gregory House’s closest friends. He serves as a major recurring presence throughout the series, often acting as House’s emotional counterweight and as someone willing to challenge House’s decisions while still helping him.
Leonard was already an established stage and screen actor before joining the medical drama. He appeared in the film Dead Poets Society and had an extensive theater career, including work on Broadway. His portrayal of Wilson combined professional competence with a more compassionate and socially conventional personality than House.
The character is not the same as Dr. Eric Foreman, Dr. Robert Chase, or Dr. James Wilson’s hospital colleagues, although all are physicians in the story. Leonard remained part of the principal ensemble for the series and appeared in the 2012 finale.
