Who played Colonel Guile in the 1994 live-action Street Fighter film?
Answer
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Answer
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Jean-Claude Van Damme played Colonel Guile in the 1994 live-action Street Fighter film. The movie adapts characters and concepts primarily from Street Fighter II, recasting Guile as the central military hero leading the Allied Nations against General M. Bison.
Van Damme was a natural choice for the role because of his martial-arts screen persona and international action-star status. Capcom had reportedly envisioned him as Guile and pushed for his casting. His version of the character is a battlefield commander rather than simply an arcade-game fighter, giving the film a conventional action-movie protagonist.
The film also stars Raul Julia as Bison, Byron Mann as Ryu, Damian Chapa as Ken, Ming-Na Wen as Chun-Li, and Kylie Minogue as Cammy. Wes Studi appears too, but as Sagat—not Guile. The movie was released in December 1994 and became Raul Julia’s final theatrical film role.
