Who originally voiced Daphne Blake in the first season of the original series?

The story behind the answer

Stefanianna Christopherson originally voiced Daphne Blake in the first season of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!

Christopherson performed Daphne’s voice during the show’s first season, which aired in 1969 and 1970. Daphne was one of the four teenage mystery solvers traveling with Scooby-Doo and Shaggy in the Mystery Machine, alongside Fred Jones and Velma Dinkley.

The first season’s voice cast included Don Messick as Scooby-Doo, Casey Kasem as Shaggy, Frank Welker as Fred, and Nicole Jaffe as Velma. Christopherson also provided voices for other characters in the series, including Sharon Wetherby and Candy Mint.

A frequent mix-up comes from Daphne’s much longer association with Heather North. North replaced Christopherson in the second season and voiced Daphne through many subsequent productions, including The New Scooby-Doo Movies and The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. Grey DeLisle became strongly associated with the character in later years, but she was not the original Daphne voice. Christopherson’s first-season run covered 17 episodes.
