Veronica Taylor originally voiced Ash Ketchum in the English Pokémon anime.

Taylor performed Ash’s English voice from the beginning of the English-language television adaptation through the first eight seasons. She also voiced several other characters in the English dub, including Ash’s mother, Delia Ketchum, and May in parts of the series.

Ash is the central trainer of the original Pokémon anime and travels with Pikachu while competing in Pokémon League competitions. Taylor’s performance helped establish the character’s energetic, optimistic English-speaking identity for an international audience.

Sarah Natochenny later became the regular English voice of Ash beginning with the ninth season. Rachael Lillis and Michele Knotz are also prominent Pokémon dub actors, but they are best known for other roles, including Misty, Jessie, and May. The English dub was produced separately from the original Japanese performance.
