Who originally owned the Resurrection Stone? Cadmus Peverell was its first owner. He was one of the three Peverell brothers in the wizarding legend of the Deathly Hallows.

According to the story, the brothers encountered Death while travelling and each received a magical object. Cadmus, grieving for a woman he loved, asked for the power to bring the dead back. Death gave him the Resurrection Stone, allowing him to summon the shades of the deceased.

The stone did not restore people to ordinary life. The summoned dead appeared distant and unhappy, and Cadmus ultimately took his own life so he could join them. Centuries later, the stone passed through the Gaunt family and was set into a ring. Tom Riddle turned that ring into one of his Horcruxes.

Harry later inherited the stone indirectly through Albus Dumbledore, who concealed it inside the first Golden Snitch Harry caught. A common mix-up is choosing Ignotus Peverell, who originally owned the Invisibility Cloak, while Antioch Peverell possessed the Elder Wand.
