Who originally owned the Cloak of Invisibility? Ignotus Peverell originally owned the Cloak of Invisibility.

According to the legend of the Deathly Hallows, Ignotus Peverell received the cloak from Death after asking for an object that would let him hide from the Grim Reaper. The cloak became one of the three Hallows, alongside the Elder Wand and the Resurrection Stone. Unlike ordinary magical cloaks, it provides lasting invisibility rather than gradually losing its enchantment.

Ignotus eventually passed the cloak to his descendants. It travelled through the Peverell and Potter family lines, reaching James Potter and then Harry Potter. Harry initially knew it simply as a valuable family heirloom and used it to move unseen around Hogwarts. Its true identity as a Deathly Hallow was revealed much later.

The answer is sometimes confused with the other Peverell brothers. Antioch Peverell was associated with the Elder Wand, while Cadmus Peverell possessed the Resurrection Stone. Godric Gryffindor never owned the cloak. In the legend, Death is its supernatural maker or giver, but Ignotus Peverell is the first human owner named in the story.
