Answer
Ronnie O’Sullivan
Answer
Ronnie O’Sullivan
Ronnie O’Sullivan made snooker’s fastest officially recognised maximum break in 5 minutes 8 seconds.
He achieved the 147 during the 1997 World Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, against Mick Price. The break is celebrated not only for its speed but also for O’Sullivan’s unusually rapid cue action and movement around the table.
A maximum break consists of potting all 15 reds with blacks, followed by the six colours. It scores 147 points when every red is paired with a black. O’Sullivan’s break therefore required 36 successful pots without a miss, followed by the colours in sequence.
The record is often described as the fastest televised 147, and it remains one of the most famous performances in snooker history. O’Sullivan has also made more officially recognised maximum breaks than any other player.
