Who is the goddess of wisdom and warfare?

The story behind the answer

Who is the goddess of wisdom and warfare? Athena is the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom and warfare.

Athena was one of the Twelve Olympians and the daughter of Zeus. In the best-known birth myth, she emerged fully grown and armed from Zeus’s head after he swallowed her mother, Metis. The story reflects her connection with intelligence, strategy, and disciplined judgment.

Athena represented the organized, tactical side of war rather than the violence and bloodlust associated with Ares. She was also goddess of handicraft and weaving, and her major symbols included the owl, olive tree, helmet, spear, shield, and aegis. Athens regarded her as its patron goddess, and the Parthenon on the Acropolis was dedicated to her.

She is sometimes confused with Artemis, who was associated with hunting and the wilderness, or Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty. In Roman religion, Athena was identified with Minerva. Her epithet Parthenos means “maiden,” reflected in the name Parthenon.
