Answer
Hironobu Sakaguchi
Answer
Hironobu Sakaguchi
Hironobu Sakaguchi is the creator of the Final Fantasy series.
Sakaguchi joined Square in 1983 and became a central figure in the company’s move toward console role-playing games. Inspired partly by Enix’s Dragon Quest, he proposed a large fantasy RPG for Nintendo hardware. The project was intended as a risky final attempt for Square, and its success transformed the company’s fortunes.
He directed the original Final Fantasy, released in Japan in 1987, and also directed the next several mainline entries. His role later shifted toward producing and supervising, but he remained influential in the series’ creative identity. He is especially associated with its emphasis on self-contained worlds, dramatic storytelling, and themes of life, loss, and sacrifice.
Yoshinori Kitase and Kazushige Nojima are important Final Fantasy creators, particularly for later games such as Final Fantasy VII, but they did not create the franchise itself. Sakaguchi eventually left Square and founded Mistwalker, where he created games including Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, The Last Story, and Fantasian.
