Tahno is the captain of the Wolf-bats pro-bending team. He is a waterbender and one of the principal rivals of Korra, Mako, and Bolin during Book One: Air.
The Wolf-bats face the Fire Ferrets in the pro-bending championship tournament. Tahno is presented as a flashy, arrogant competitor whose team has won multiple championships and is willing to use illegal tactics. During the final match, the Wolf-bats exploit loopholes and concealed techniques, making them a dangerous opponent despite the sport’s formal rules.
Tahno’s story becomes connected to the Equalist conflict when Amon removes the bending abilities of Tahno and his teammates after the championship match. This strips Tahno of the power central to both his identity and his career. Later appearances establish that his bending is restored, and he remains associated with the Wolf-bats. A common mix-up is naming Mako or Bolin, who are members of the Fire Ferrets, or Hasook, an earlier Fire Ferrets teammate rather than the Wolf-bats captain.
