Who is the author of the 'Frog and Toad' series?
Answer
Arnold Lobel
Answer
Arnold Lobel
Arnold Lobel is the author of the Frog and Toad series.
Lobel was an American writer and illustrator whose easy-reader books follow the friendship between Frog and Toad, two anthropomorphic characters with contrasting personalities. Frog is generally cheerful and adventurous, while Toad is more anxious and easily flustered. Their everyday problems—such as flying a kite, cleaning a house, or waiting for spring—become gentle comic adventures.
The original series contains four books: Frog and Toad Are Friends, published in 1970; Frog and Toad Together, published in 1972; Frog and Toad All Year, published in 1976; and Days with Frog and Toad, published in 1979. Each book contains five short stories.
Lobel both wrote and illustrated the series, which is why he is sometimes confused with other major children's-book creators such as Dr. Seuss or Maurice Sendak. Frog and Toad Are Friends received a Caldecott Honor, and Frog and Toad Together earned a Newbery Honor. Lobel later won the 1981 Caldecott Medal for Fables.
