Who is Taylor Swift’s co-writer on “august” besides Swift herself?

Jack Antonoff co-wrote Taylor Swift’s “august” with Swift.

Antonoff and Swift had already collaborated on songs for 1989, Reputation, and Lover before working together again on Folklore. For “august,” Antonoff created the instrumental first and sent it to Swift, who wrote the lyrics intuitively after hearing it.

The pair also share producer credits on the track. Joe Alwyn received an additional production credit, although the album’s liner-note credits and later awards recognition distinguish the contributors’ roles.

Antonoff’s collaboration with Swift is one reason “august” sits within the more atmospheric, guitar-led side of Folklore. His production helps shape the song’s dream-pop texture, while Swift’s lyrics present the fictional summer romance from Augustine’s perspective.
