Who is Saul Hudson?

Saul Hudson is the rock guitarist known professionally as Slash.

Born in England in 1965, Hudson moved to Los Angeles during childhood and became a major figure in hard rock. He rose to international fame as the lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, joining the band in the mid-1980s before its breakthrough albums Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion I and II. His melodic solos, top hat, sunglasses, and long curly hair became part of his signature image.

The name “Slash” is a stage nickname, not a separate person. After leaving Guns N’ Roses, he played with Slash’s Snakepit and co-founded Velvet Revolver with former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan. He has also released solo albums and performed with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators.

A common mix-up is identifying Hudson only as a former Guns N’ Roses guitarist. He has had a substantial career beyond that band, but Guns N’ Roses remains the connection most quizmasters expect when asking who Saul Hudson is.
