Who is on the cover of the video game NBA 2K18?

Kyrie Irving is on the standard cover of the video game NBA 2K18. The Cleveland Cavaliers point guard was selected as the cover athlete for the 2017 edition, placing him on the main international release during the height of his partnership with LeBron James in Cleveland.

NBA 2K18 launched in September 2017, shortly after Irving was traded from the Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics. As a result, some later promotional images and updated packaging showed him in a Celtics uniform, while the original cover reflected his Cavaliers identity.

A common source of confusion is that NBA 2K18 had special editions. Shaquille O’Neal appeared on the Legend Edition cover, and certain regional releases featured other basketball personalities. Those variants do not change the usual trivia answer: Kyrie Irving was the cover athlete of the standard edition.
