Who is credited as the designer of the C2 Corvette?

The story behind the answer

Larry Shinoda is credited as the designer of the C2 Corvette. Working under GM styling chief Bill Mitchell, Shinoda helped turn several influences into the second-generation Corvette, which debuted for the 1963 model year as the Sting Ray.

The C2’s shape drew on Mitchell’s 1959 Stingray Racer, the earlier Q Corvette styling work, the Jaguar E-Type, and the streamlined form of a mako shark. Shinoda’s contribution was central to translating those ideas into a production car with hidden headlights, sculpted fenders, and an independent rear suspension.

Peter Brock was also important to the Corvette’s development, particularly through earlier styling work, but he is not the usual canonical answer to this question. Bill Mitchell directed the program, while Shinoda is generally identified as the C2’s principal designer. The C2 ran from 1963 through 1967; its one-year-only split rear window appeared on the 1963 coupe.
