Who hosted the Canadian television version of Dragons' Den for its first eight seasons?
Answer
Dianne Buckner
Answer
Dianne Buckner
Dianne Buckner hosted the Canadian television version of Dragons' Den for its first eight seasons.
Buckner is a Canadian journalist and broadcaster who served as the programme’s host during its early run. Her role was to introduce entrepreneurs, frame the pitches and guide viewers through the negotiations with the Canadian Dragons.
The Canadian edition was produced for CBC and developed its own panel of investors, although it retained the international format’s focus on business proposals, valuation and equity. Investors such as Arlene Dickinson and W. Brett Wilson are therefore associated with the programme but were not its host.
A frequent mix-up occurs because the host and Dragons appear in the same pitch environment. The host manages the programme’s presentation, whereas the Dragons decide whether to make offers. Dianne Buckner’s identifying fact is her early hosting tenure, not membership of the investment panel.
