Who directed the most episodes of The Big Bang Theory?

The story behind the answer

Mark Cendrowski directed the most episodes of The Big Bang Theory.

Cendrowski served as the sitcom’s primary director, guiding 244 episodes across the show’s 12-season run from 2007 to 2019. That long association made him one of the key creative figures behind the series’ consistent visual rhythm, including its apartment, cafeteria and university-laboratory settings.

He was not the show’s creator: that credit belongs to Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. Nor was he the director of the pilot; James Burrows directed the original pilot presentation. Cendrowski became the regular directing presence after the series moved forward, helping establish the timing and ensemble blocking required for its multi-camera format.

Cendrowski also directed episodes of sitcoms such as Yes, Dear, Still Standing, According to Jim and Rules of Engagement. His work on The Big Bang Theory earned him Emmy nominations for “The Bow Tie Asymmetry” and the series finale, “The Stockholm Syndrome.”
