Who directed the 2006 Sundance-winning film Quinceañera?

The story behind the answer

Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland directed the 2006 film Quinceañera.

The two filmmakers jointly wrote and directed the film, which centers on Magdalena, a Los Angeles teenager approaching her quinceañera. The story uses the celebration as a framework for examining family relationships, religious expectations, sexuality, pregnancy, and belonging.

Quinceañera gained major attention at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, winning both the Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and the Dramatic Audience Award. Those awards helped bring the independent film to a wider audience.

The directors later collaborated on other films, including The Last of Robin Hood and Still Alice. Their partnership is sometimes obscured because film credits may list them together, but both names are required for the directing answer.
